Thought I should probably update
my blog... It's been a while I know, but I've been so busy grafting away. Quite a lot has been going on with my writing. First of all I am up to Chapter 30 of my novel. It's really exciting to write and I'm having so much fun with it. One small character has become huge! No she hasn't piled on the pounds, but has actually become so important to the script that the book just wouldn't work without her. Interesting concepts have worked their way into the writing as well. I will most certainly be working them into the rest of the novel when I rewrite it.
In addition to my progress with my novel, I have also taken a few large steps with my screenplay. It occurred to me that I hadn't picked it up for a while and so I decided that it was probably a good time to read over it. I made several small changes which had previously bugged me and also rectified one massive annoyance which did a lot more than merely 'bug' me. It all seems to flow so much better now.
To help my chances of success with my screenplay I have been trawling through cyberspace in search of any information that may improve my presentation, structure, and submission package. There is a whole wealth of information out there and it's very easy to find. My next step is to buy the most recent 'Writers' and Artists Yearbook' and peruse that for any extra information.
So far I have discovered that the
screenplay must conform to standard formatting (which I think I've managed), and that when it is submitted it must be held together by no more (and no less) than three butterfly pins. The screenplay should be sandwiched between two sheets of white card and the coversheet should have the title of the screenplay on it. My only problem is finding a paper-puncher that can punch the said three holes at once.
Well, that's my shopping list sorted for tomorrow:
· Writers' and Artists' Yearbook
· Butterfly Pins
· White A4 card
· Three-Hole Paper-Puncher
I'm off to bed now anyway as I have an early start tomorrow. Will update the next time I have any progress to report.
