Building my First House

Wow, I have been drooling over celebrity houses online for close to an hour now. From personal tennis and basketball courts to wine cellars and movie theaters, these houses seem to have it all! While celebrities are spending an obnoxious amount of money for beautiful swimming pools and home bowling alleys, I'm saving up pennies to build my first house.

Building your first house is a big deal in my opinion. I figure if I'm going to spend some time paying it off, I better like what I am paying for! To make sure I love my first house, I decided to make a list of five must haves for my future home.
  • Spacious laundry room - Laundry isn't the worst thing in the world, but sorting and folding clothes isn't fun, especially if you don't have room to do so which is why I want a good size laundry room.
  • Walk in pantry - I love to bake and cook so having room to keep food for spur of the moment meals is important to me!
  • Draw with a built-in outlet - I hate the messiness of cords! I want one draw like this is the kitchen for cell phone chargers and other electronics as well as one in the bathroom to hide curling iron, flat iron, and hair dryer cords!
  • Electrical outlets everywhere - Growing up it seemed like my mom had extension cords going every which for lights and decorations at our house during the holiday season and it was annoying!
  • Log siding - I don't know why, but I have always imagined by first house to have log siding so it's what I'm going to do!

Since I am a ways away from actually building my first house, I know I will add to this list and probably change my mind on certain items too! If you have any suggestions of must haves for a new home, I would love to hear them!

    Always Being Busy

Thought I should probably update my blog...  It's been a while I know, but I've been so busy grafting away.  Quite a lot has been going on with my writing.  First of all I am up to Chapter 30 of my novel.  It's really exciting to write and I'm having so much fun with it.  One small character has become huge!  No she hasn't piled on the pounds, but has actually become so important to the script that the book just wouldn't work without her.  Interesting concepts have worked their way into the writing as well.  I will most certainly be working them into the rest of the novel when I rewrite it.

In addition to my progress with my novel, I have also taken a few large steps with my screenplay.  It occurred to me that I hadn't picked it up for a while and so I decided that it was probably a good time to read over it.  I made several small changes which had previously bugged me and also rectified one massive annoyance which did a lot more than merely 'bug' me.  It all seems to flow so much better now.

To help my chances of success with my screenplay I have been trawling through cyberspace in search of any information that may improve my presentation, structure, and submission package.  There is a whole wealth of information out there and it's very easy to find.  My next step is to buy the most recent 'Writers' and Artists Yearbook' and peruse that for any extra information.

So far I have discovered that the screenplay must conform to standard formatting (which I think I've managed), and that when it is submitted it must be held together by no more (and no less) than three butterfly pins.  The screenplay should be sandwiched between two sheets of white card and the coversheet should have the title of the screenplay on it.  My only problem is finding a paper-puncher that can punch the said three holes at once.

Well, that's my shopping list sorted for tomorrow:
    ·         Writers' and Artists' Yearbook
    ·         Butterfly Pins
    ·         White A4 card
    ·         Three-Hole Paper-Puncher
I'm off to bed now anyway as I have an early start tomorrow.  Will update the next time I have any progress to report.

    Hello & Welcome
